Career: Joined the Queensland Police Force in 1989 amidst a wild period of corruption involving senior police and politicians. Spent 10 years policing on on the Gold Coast before returning to Brisbane as a Detective Constable.
Quit the Qld Police after heated arguments with his boss (later proven to be correct by his jailing) and moved to the NSW Police Force taking up a post as Detective Sergeant at the Kingscliff Police Station, Kingscliff, NSW. Jack thought a quiet, seaside village on the Tweed Coast would be idyllic. It’s not. He’s still ruffling the feathers of senior management and he hates his Chief Superintendent O’Halloran. Life goes on.
Resides: Family home in Brisbane but rents a 2 brm apartment at the Seaview Motel, Cypress Ave, Cabarita Beach during the week. Tries to return to Brisbane on the weekends, but in his job that’s rare. Murder doesn’t always occur Monday – Friday.
Wife: Sandra Creed. Nationality – Scottish. Married – 1989. Lives in Brisbane with their daughter. A retired nurse.

Career: Joined NSW Police Force in 2009, stationed at Lismore Police Station, NSW. Moved into the Armed Robbery Squad as a Detective Constable in 2012 before transferring to Kingscliff Police Station in 2014 to join Jack Creed in the Murder Squad

London Career: After graduating from Le Cordon Bleu London, Margaret worked in some of London’s finest hotels including the Savoy and Dorchester where she met her future husband; a rising internet star. When the dot com era took off, Margaret and her husband sold their business to British Telecom for in excess of 100 million pound. Knighted by the Queen in 2000 for services to industry they moved to Yorkshire to enjoy a quiet country life and to engage in various charities.
Resides: Lawler’s Loft Guesthouse, near Bangalow, NSW, Australia where she operates a cooking school and carries out some part time amateur sleuthing.
Spouse: Widowed in 2007. Not married since although there are a few suitors. Afraid of losing her knighthood if she does.
Name: Dr Vijay Kumar
Born: 17 October 1963. Goa, India. Emigrated to Australia 1980.

Career: Police surgeon, NSW Police Force. Practised medicine in regional Queensland until some lawsuits forced him out of private practice. He moved to the Tweed Coast and temporarily retired under a cloud until he was coaxed back into a public service role by the Pottsville Mayor. Frankly there was nobody else who wanted the role. Vijay secretly wanted to be a test cricket player like his father. He was a good grade cricketer but was never selected to represent his State or country; something his father constantly reminded him of.
Resides: Hastings Point Caravan Park, Hastings Point NSW. Moved in after separation.
Wife: Separated. Australian born Kathy, returned from a sales conference in 2011, moved out of their family home in Kingscliff, organising a fire sale with a local real estate agent, and fled to Sydney. Still not divorced, the couple have not communicated since 2012. They have no children.
Father: Sonny Kumar. Played 23 Tests for India 1966 - 1977. Accepted a role to play Sheffield Shield Cricket for Queensland Australia in 1980. A spinner, his idol was Bishan Bedi who he played some early Tests with. He often joked that he was the inspiration for Shane Warne's stellar career including Warne's 'Ball of the Century'. Constantly reminded Vijay of his short comings.
